  I Peed A Little - Fat People Can't Fly!
I PEED A LITTLE :: Fat People Can't Fly! |
06 Jan 2009 |
| Ten stewardesses (yes, that's actually the plural form) have been fired by Air India for being "too fat to fly."According to BBC News, the airline stated that the women failed to meet company weight restrictions, which are calculated according to height and age. Fighting back, the stewardesseseses (now I'm just having fun with the word) failed to get the policy declared unconstitutional by the Indian High Court. Talk about a heavy defeat!
I'm absolutely appalled by the airline's decision. Even if a person doesn't have a flawless body, he or she should not be denied the right to go up thirty-seven thousand feet in the air and give people peanuts. Where the hell do they get off saying that someone is not the right body type to do a job that requires little to no physical exertion? Chubbiness and paralysis are typically different things. And plus, different bodies carry weight in different ways. What's Air India's problem?!? If a plane crashes, people are gonna' die whether they're fat or not. Hell, a one thousand pound man could probably be used as a flotation device.
Airlines and fashion are two completely different fields. Since when is helping passengers on a plane equivalent to doing a photo-shoot for a magazine? There's no comparison! One involves a runway, and the other involves....... a runway. Shit. Bad example. But seriously, I'm really mad about this whole darn poopy incident.
It looks like not all "cows" are sacred in India.

| But I do know that in many Asian countries, stewardesses are required to be pretty, and that usually means skinny as well. Who knows. |

| It's like how they were planning to charge extra airfare for "heavier" people (not sure if they actually implemented this yet). I've heard that they do this (and that) mainly to save on gas prices. But I do know that in many Asian countries, stewardesses are required to be pretty, and that usually means skinny as well. Who knows. |
